As the Art Director at Shop Etc. I contributed to a team that developed two consecutive prototypes based on extensive research into leading-edge design solutions. I managed the startup and launch, including hiring talent, feature wells, workflow, schedule, and Quark-to-InDesign upgrade. I often styled and art-directed photo shoots, assigned illustrations, oversaw color management, prepress and printing.
Shop Etc. was unique in that it was like having 3 magazines in one, Fashion, Home and Beauty. I was tasked with the problem of separating these sections in an interesting way that would work with single page ads. The solution was to create gate fold openers that served as contents pages and a shop directory to delineate each section.
